Chapter 13
Luncheon Picnic Area
Nick started to walk back up to the group near the gazebo with Sabrina close behind. They approached the gazebo just in time to see the police rough up Zack, placing his hands behind his back.
“Hey! What’s going on? What did I do?” Zack asked with confusion and fear in his eyes.
“Stop! What are you doing to my husband? Stop!” Taylor shouted trying to rescue Zack away from the police.
“Zack Efron, you are under arrest for the rape of Maria Santiago. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do, can and will be held against you in a court of law…” the officer said as his voice trailed while handcuffing Zack’s wrists.
“What?! This is nonsense! I don’t even know who that is!” Zack said claiming his innocence.
“Zack, what are they talking about?” Taylor shouted with confusion.
The officers started to escort Zack back to their patrol car.
“Wait, where are you taking him?” Taylor started to cry.
Victoria wrapped her arms around Taylor in comfort. Everyone else looked on in pure utter shock.
“Taylor, baby, call my brother, Roger. I didn’t do anything, I swear!” Zack shouted as the police continued to escort him to the patrol car. Taylor and Victoria followed them along with Liam and Jacob trying to understand what was going on.
--------
After everything had calmed down, everyone left the luncheon at the park and went their separate ways. Sabrina had had enough and just wanted to go back to the hotel and relax. Since Nick had got a ride to the park with Liam and Jacob, and Jacob wanted to go to the police station with Taylor to see the end results with Zack, Nick asked Sabrina if he could ride with her back to the hotel. Sabrina agreed.
They sat in the car in silence as Sabrina drove back to the hotel. Nick finally broke the ice by saying, “Brin, you know this is your chance right?”
“My chance for what?”
“To tell the police what happened to you with Zack and his brother.”
Sabrina took a deep breath. “Nick, seriously, that was so long ago, there is nothing they can do now. I have nothing to do with whatever the mess that Zack is involved with now.”
“Are you kidding me?” Nick glared at her.
“Nick, Im not talking about this with you!” Sabrina said as she kept her eyes on the road.
“Zack raped another girl, just like you claim that he raped you when you were 14! He’s sick! And you’re still not going to do anything about it?”
“Wait, what do you mean I ‘claim’ he raped me? You still don’t believe me?”
Nick paused before responding. “It’s just hard to understand…I mean, you act like your still 14 years old and you’re scared, but you—“
“Just shut up, Nick! You have no idea!” she yelled interrupting him.

Their Hotel
Sabrina quickly pulled into the hotel parking lot. She couldn’t wait to get away from Nick. She couldn’t believe the things he was saying.
Nick could feel her racing the car thru the parking lot. He then continued, “No, I don’t have an idea, that’s what im trying to understand. Its obvious you never got help for going thru what you went thru and you’re still scared. For no reason!”
Sabrina shifted the car into park once she found a parking space. She quickly turned off the ignition and grabbed her purse to exit the car. “So what, you’re playing Dr. Phil now?” Sabrina quickly hopped out of the car.
Nick quickly hopped out of the car to catch up to her. “Sabrina! Im just trying to help you get thru this.”
Sabrina didn’t say a word. She rushed trying to get inside the hotel lobby.
“Sabrina, stop!” Nick quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her to the side before she could go inside the hotel lobby.
Sabrina quickly snatched her arm away from him saying, “Stop! Let go of me, Nick! Just go away!” Sabrina frowned at him and proceeded to walk inside the lobby of the hotel.
Nick stopped for a moment trying not to make a scene as people passed by coming in and out of the luxury hotel.
Sabrina quickly stepped onto the elevator with a couple of other people. Nick managed to step into the elevator at the last minute forcing the elevator doors to jerk back open for him to enter. Sabrina rolled her eyes but said nothing. He kept her eyes on her. Everyone remained silent as the elevator music filled the small box they stood in. The elevator stopped at the 4th floor to allow the other people in the elevator to exit. Once the door closed, Sabrina and Nick were alone.
“Sabrina, listen –“
“You never stop, do you?!” Sabrina interrupted him with a scowl on her face.
“Im just trying to help you. Im here for you, and I care about you.”
“Just stop, Nick.” Sabrina said with disgust.
“Why are you so—“
“What are you doing? Really…what are you doing, huh, Nicky? You never cared! So why are you trying so hard now?” Sabrina yelled at Nick as she emphasized on the name ‘Nicky’ from what Taylor called him earlier.
“What are you talking about? I’ve always cared about you!” Nick said loudly to her with a confused expression.
“No you didn’t.”
“Yes, I did.”
“No you didn’t!”
"Yes, I –“
“YOU LEFT ME!!!” Sabrina shouted at him as she shoved him forcing him to fall back onto the elevator wall. “You left me! You never cared…” Sabrina said with her voice trembling as if she were about to cry.
The elevator came to a stop making a dinging noise. The elevator doors opened and Sabrina rushed off the elevator. Nick followed behind her grabbing her arm once again.
“Get away from me!”
“Sabrina, stop. We need to talk about this.” Nick said calmly trying to calm her down.
“No. There is nothing more to say. Leave me alone.” Sabrina said as tears began to fall down her face.
She shoved Nick away from her trying to get away from him, but Nick held on to her grabbing both of her arms. He then pulled her into the stairwell so no one in their hotel rooms could hear them out in the hall. Once he got Sabrina into the stairwell, he shut the door blocking it so Sabrina couldn’t leave out.
“Move out of the way, Nick.”
“No. Im tired of you pushing me away. You need help, but you wont let me help you! You keep saying I left you, I never left you—“
Sabrina laughed thru her tears. “Should I remind you how you left me at Zack’s party when we were only 14 years old! You knew I was drunk, Nick! Everyone knew I was drunk!”
“So it’s my fault that Roger, Paul and Zack were the assholes who took it upon themselves to rape you?” Nick said finding himself getting angry.
“You should have taken me with you! You and Taylor just left me there! You two were supposed to be my friend!”
“I thought you were having fun. You had changed Sabrina. I thought that’s how you were –“
“Oh you mean before you left me the first time to live with your father in D.C?”
Nick paused and stared at her. He didn’t have a response.
Sabrina wiped her tears away trying to compose her emotions. “You left me to live with your father. You come back to leave me again at the party…and then, when I needed you most thru out high school, you weren’t there for me. You didn’t even believe me when I first told you I was raped. You have no idea what I went thru all in highschool. The sight of seeing Zack every single day knowing that he and his stupid brother and friend…ganged raped me, taking my innocence and virginity away. Only to find out later that I was pregnant by one of them. I couldn’t live thinking one of them would be the father of an unwanted child so I had an abortion. I’ve been living with the thought that I murdered an unborn child that was growing inside of me... and I was all alone. I had no one.” Sabrina admitted as her tears flowed freely down her cheek.
Nick stood there in shock as he listened intently to her. This was the first time he found out the truth about her being pregnant and had an abortion. He remembered the rumors, but that was just it…he thought they were rumors.
Sabrina continued, “I can only imagine what my father would think of me, so, I never told him nor my aunt. I knew my mother was rolling in her grave.” Sabrina began sobbing when she mentioned her mother.
Nick walked up to Sabrina wanting to comfort her, but Sabrina quickly raised her arms stopping him from coming any closer to her.
She regained her composure to stop crying as she wiped her tears away. She looked up at Nick. “Then you left me again, when you went to University of Florida. You never called, wrote a letter, emailed or anything. You didn’t try to keep in touch with me, but apparently you kept in touch with Taylor since she’s calling you Nicky…”
“Wait…wait…” Nick said softly. “I did try. I swear. I called you once I was settled in my dorm, but all I got was the operator telling me that your number was no longer in service.”
“What? That’s not true.”
“I swear, Brin, I called you. I admit, I didn’t know your home address, which was stupid of me. I regret that to this day that I couldn’t write you a letter. I even tried to email you, but I got that return mail thing saying the email address didn’t exist. I looked for you on myspace, classmates.com, and even facebook, but it was like you dropped off the face of the earth.”
Sabrina thought about what he said. She remembered her father had changed their home number because he was tired of the telemarketers calling the house. Their number was private and was never listed in the phonebook.
Sabrina looked up at Nick once again speaking calmly, “My father still stays in the same house. Why didn’t you just come by if you were trying so hard to get in contact with me?”
“I did.” Nick informed her.
Sabrina was surprised to hear the news. She couldn’t believe that if he did come by, why didn’t her father tell her.
Nick continued, “No one was home. I left a note with my number and address…but I never got a response.”
Nick was telling the truth. However, what neither of them knew was that the day he went over there, Sabrina was in the hospital with her dad while he was recuperating from the chemo dealing with his cancer. There was a storm and the note that Nick left between the screendoor was blown away. Neither Sabrina nor her father saw the note.
“I thought you were upset with me when I never got a phone call or anything back from you. I had given up.”
“I never got it.” Sabrina responded softly as she looked away and walked away from Nick walking into the corner of the stairwell.
Nick looked down and walked up a few steps and sat down near the rail as they both remained silent in deep thoughts.
Sabrina had wiped her face dry from her tears and took a deep breath. She had to admit, she never tried to reach out to Nick. Yet now she realized that he tried in so many ways to contact her. She wished she had known this information a long time ago. She then turned around to face Nick as he sat on the steps. Sabrina leaned against the wall as she stared at him. She wondered why he kept his daughter a secret. She felt herself getting a little angry again at the thought. What was he up to?
“Why didn’t you tell me about your family?”
Nick looked up at Sabrina. “I was going to. When the time was right.”
“You didn’t think last night out on the patio was a good time to tell me?”
“No, you’re right. I should have. I just…I wasn’t sure how you would react.”
“So, are you and your daughter’s mother together?” Sabrina asked and then quickly reworded her question. “I mean…Im just curious, because I don’t care if you are. It just seems like Taylor knows so much about your life and the way she said it seems like you two were together.”
Nick sighed and rolled his eyes at the thought of Taylor. “Taylor’s a bitch. She knew what she was doing. Can’t you see she’s jealous of you? Listen…Joanne, my daughter’s mother, and I are just friends. Somewhat…well, not really. We were never married, we never really officially dated. She was just some girl that I got caught up with. We went to college together. We tried to make things work, but my heart wasn’t with her. Her heart wasn’t with me either. So…it never worked.” Nick paused at the thought. He then continued, “My daughter, Jos, and I came up here to Orlando a couple of days ago so she could enjoy Disney World. She wanted to go to the Animal Kingdom, and we did. Joanne and her mother came up yesterday evening to get Jos. It just so happens that, Joanne and Liam’s girlfriend, Miley, are sisters. So Miley wanted her sister to come to the dinner last night, but I protested against it because I didn’t want Joanne there. But she came anyway causing us to be late. Jos stayed with Joann’s mother while we went to the dinner. After the dinner, I said my goodbye’s to my little girl and headed back up to my hotel room. However, I accidentally got off on the wrong floor and that’s when I heard the commotion between you, Roger and Paul.”
Sabrina looked down thinking about the events that happened last night. “How old is your daughter?”
Nick smiled thinking about her. “She’s four going on thirty-four.”
Sabrina and Nick both chuckled lightly.
“Congrats.”
Nick slowly looked up at Sabrina. “Thanks.” He said softly.
Silence fell between the two friends.
“I wish you could have met her. Maybe one day…right?”
Sabrina gave him a light smile. “Yeah. Maybe.”
“Brin…Im really sorry.” Nick said changing the subject back to Sabrina accusing him for not being there for her. “I was a kid back then, I didn’t know any better.”
Sabrina shrugged her shoulders lightly.
“But you do realize it takes two, right? I can’t read your mind.”
Sabrina smacked her teeth. “You didn’t have to read my mind, Nick. I told you what happened.”
“Yeah, you told me years later, when we were like Juniors in high school, and then you didn’t even want me to tell your father.”
“Right! But I told you, and you didn’t believe me.” Sabrina raised her voice out of frustration.
“Im sorry!” Nick said loudly. He paused and lowered his voice to speak softly. “I am, Brin. Im sorry. Im sorry I wasn’t there for you then... but Im here now.”
Sabrina looked away as her eyes began to tear up once again. “It doesn’t matter. It was in the past. The past is over. I’ve moved on. I’ve moved on from –“
Sabrina stopped abruptly in mid sentence because Nick quickly rushed up towards her cupping her face into his hands and planted his lips on her lips. Sabrina was caught by surprise and raised her hands up and grabbing Nick’s wrist with the intent to remove his hands from her face and push him away. However, she found herself lost in his kiss. She felt his lips gently part her lips as he softly re-positioned his lips onto hers, giving her a slow sensual kiss.
Several seconds later, Nick slowly pulled away still cupping her face in his hands. Sabrina realized she had stopped breathing and now she was finally able to exhale. She opened her eyes and looked up at Nick who was staring deep into her eyes. “I’ve been waiting to do that again ever since we were 13 years old.” He said in a low soft husky tone.
Sabrina’s eyes danced between Nick’s brown eyes as he stared back at her.
Sabrina thought about her very first kiss. It was with Nick when they were both 13 years old. Nick kissed her, but the way he leaned into her, he was so awkward. It was obvious it was his first kiss as well. But things were different now. The way he had swiftly got up from sitting on the steps and grabbed her face and kissed her was so smooth. Sabrina could tell that the way he softly landed his lips onto hers, he was definitely more experienced than the 13 year old Nick who harshly landed his lips onto her. Sabrina blinked hard trying to get out of her thoughts.
She slowly lowered Nick’s hands away from around her face. She bit her lower lips and started to walk away towards the door of the stairwell. Nick looked at Sabrina wishing he could read her thoughts. He was starting to regret that he just kissed her. What did that mean for their friendship? Did he just ruin it? Nick gently grabbed for her hand as Sabrina walked away.
“Sabrina…?” he called out to her softly, ready to apologize.
Sabrina opened the door and looked back at Nick. She gestured with her head wanting Nick to follow her saying, “C’mon.”
Nick slightly raised his eyebrows not sure what she meant. He then quietly followed Sabrina out of the stairwell and walked down the hall towards Sabrina’s hotel room.
Sabrina reached into her purse and pulled out her hotel room card key without saying a word. Nick stood closely beside her as she opened the door. Sabrina walked in holding the door open for Nick to follow her inside.
As they both walked further into the room they both stopped dead in their tracks with their eyes widen in shock.
Sabrina's mouth dropped open saying, “OH MY GOD!”
Nick could feel her racing the car thru the parking lot. He then continued, “No, I don’t have an idea, that’s what im trying to understand. Its obvious you never got help for going thru what you went thru and you’re still scared. For no reason!”

“Raven, I am sooo sorry!” Sabrina said as she raised her hand up to shield her eyes from what she just saw.
Nick stood there with a smile on his face at the sight that they just caught Raven having sex.
Just as Sabrina was turning around to leave the room, a familiar face popped up from under the covers. Sabrina and Nick both looked in shock.
“Arnez?!” Sabrina said with her jaw dropped open.
Arnez gave a nervous laughter. “Heyyyy…” he said slowly. Arnez recognized Nick. “Nick, dude…what’s up buddy?”
Nick raised one brow and smirked. “Not much…maybe the question is, what’s up with you?” Nick said on the verge of laughing.
“Arnez? You said your name was Kevin!” Raven looked over at Arnez who was lying next to her.
“Uhhh…it is. My first name is Kevin, but I go by my middle name, Arnez. You didn’t tell me your friend was Sabrina.” He looked at Raven with wide eyes in shock.
“Wait a minute! Are you here for the Class of 2001 reunion??”
Arnez just stared at Raven.
His silence gave Raven the answer that yes, he was there for the reunion. “Oh my God…” Raven responded clearly embarrassed.
At that moment, both Raven and Arnez began arguing back and forth.
“Uhm…I think we’re going to leave you two alone. Raven…we really need to talk.” Sabrina said as she lightly pushed Nick out of the room.
Raven looked up at Sabrina and planted a fake smile on her face. “Oh, okay girl. Don’t go too far, because he is about to get up out of here!”
Nick quietly laughed as Sabrina pushed him out of her hotel room.
“Wow! Now that was funny!” Nick said still laughing as they walked out into the hallway.
Sabrina playfully hit Nick’s arm. “No, Nick, that’s not funny! Kyla still has feelings for Arnez and Arnez is in there having sex with my best friend! What am I supposed to do?” Sabrina said slightly in a panic.
Nick finally stopped laughing and tried to get serious with Sabrina. However he couldn’t stop smiling. “What do you mean ‘what are you supposed to do’? You don’t do anything. You stay out of it.” Nick finished as he stuffed his hands into his jeans pockets while leaning against the wall.
Sabrina placed her hand on her forehead as if she were in distress.
Within the next moment, Arnez walked out of their hotel room with his shirt unbutton exposing his muscular chest and his pants still unzipped. He looked at both Nick and Sabrina. He zipped up his pants while trying to find the words to say to them. “Uhm…do me a favor? Don’t tell Kyla about this.” He then looked at Nick saying, “I’ll holla atcha later, Nick.”
Nick nodded his head at him with a smirk.
Arnez rushed off down the hall to the elevator.
Nick began to chuckle at the whole situation.
Sabrina turned her attention to Nick. “I should probably go…and check on Raven.”
“Oh…okay..” Nick said disappointed. “Were you guys going out to Pleasure Island tonight? Im sure the whole thing about Zack being arrested is the talk of the whole class.”
“No. I don’t want to deal with Taylor and the whole gang. So I just rather keep myself out of the loop.”
“Yeah..I probably should do the same thing. I don’t have time for Taylor’s drama, ya know?”
Sabrina nodded with a faint smile. “Let’s get together later. I mean … that is, if you want to.”
Nick noticed Sabrina hesitating. “Tell you what…give me a call. Im going to stay in my room probably for the rest of the evening. Im in room 1124.” He then stepped up to her and gave her a kiss on her forehead and walked away.

Sabrina's Room
Sabrina sighed and walked into the hotel room. Raven was fixing her hair in the bathroom wearing a gray tank top and black shorts. Sabrina stood at the doorway looking at her friend.
“Don’t say anything. I don’t want to hear it.” Raven said without looking at Sabrina.
“The guy you just slept with…the one you didn’t even know his first name to…? That’s the girl I graduated with long time boyfriend. The father to her three kids. Remember her? Kyla was her name.” Sabrina said sarcastically.
Raven rested her palms on the marble sink counter and held her head low. “I feel so bad, Brin. I didn’t know. He said he was single and here on vacation.”
Sabrina shook her head. “I hope you used protection, Rave.” Sabrina walked toward her bed as she took off her flip flops to relax.
Raven took a deep breath and immediately changed the subject as she followed her coming out of the bathroom. “What about you Miss Missy? I see you and Nick are still hanging tight. What’s the status?”
“We argued…and then he…kissed me.”
Raven turned her body as if her neck was not able to turn on its own. She looked at Sabrina in shock. “You two kissed? He gives you flowers and then he kisses you? Aww, that’s so freaking sweet!”
Sabrina lightly shrugged her shoulders and sat on her bed indian style as she grabbed one of her pillows and snuggled it against her chest.
Raven sat on her bed moving her messy covers over to the side. “What’s wrong? What did you guys argue about? Oh wait…is he married?”
At that point, Sabrina proceeded to tell Raven everything her and Nick talked about as well as what happened with Zack getting arrested for raping another female.
“Yo, that dude is sick! He has some serious issues, Brin. I have to agree with Nick. You should definitely say something to the police. It could help the girl he recently raped with her case.”
Sabrina was now lying on her stomach as she spoke to Raven. “Can I be honest, Rave?”
Raven waited for her to continue.
“Im ready to go home. I miss my baby, Cody. All of this talk about kids, and then me spending time with Kyla’s kids…I just want Cody.”
Raven laid down on her bed lying on her side to face Sabrina. She took a deep breath. “Okay. If you really want to go home…Im down for that." Raven paused and thought for a moment. She continued, "I just came up here and became a hoe…I think I need to go back home to my comfort zone.”
Sabrina giggled. “What do you mean you came up here and became a hoe? You already were a hoe!” Sabrina teased her.
Raven threw her pillow at Sabrina hitting her in the head.
They both laughed.

Nick's Room
Nick was lying on his back in bed, wearing his jeans and a white tank top, thinking about Sabrina. He placed both of his hands underneath his head as her face floated around in his mind. He then thought about the kiss they shared. A light smile spread across his face.
A knock on his hotel room door snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked over at the door wondering if it was Sabrina. Deep down inside he really hoped it was her. Nick walked up to his door and opened it. On the other side were Jacob and Liam.
“What’s up?” Nick asked allowing both Jacob and Liam to come inside.
“Zack’s in some deep shit.” Jacob said walking in with Liam close behind.
Nick looked out in the hallway and then closed the door. “Where’s Taylor and Victoria?” Nick asked.
“At the police station with Roger and Paul. They are still trying to see if he will be able to post bail.”
“For raping someone? He needs to stay in jail.” Nick said calmly walking over to sit on the edge of his bed.
Both Liam and Jacob took a seat in the plush chairs located in the corner of Nick’s room.
“Zack didn’t rape that girl.” Jacob said looking at Nick in disbelief.
“How do you know? Were you there?” Nick asked raising his brow.
“All I know is that I was there last night at the club with Zack, and that chick was acting all slutty. If anything happened it was definitely consensual sex.”
“You keep saying that…why don’t you tell us the whole story.” Liam said calmly yet annoyed.
“Alright, fine! This is how everything went down.” Jacob said sitting on the edge of the chair leaning forward with his elbows on his knees.

---Jacob's Story---
Club Groove
We were at the Welcome Dinner still dancing our asses off when everyone appeared to be ready to go to bed. What a bunch of old geezers we have grown up to be. Paul and I were talking about hitting the club in Pleasure Island. He was down for it, and so were Roger and Zack.
“Taylor, the guys and I are going to the club. Why don’t you and Victoria head back up to the hotel room.” Zack said to Taylor.
“Well wait, how do you know that Victoria and I don’t want to come too?” Taylor responded with a slight pout.
“Because it’s just us guys, that’s why.”
“Jacob, you’re not really going are you?” Victoria asked me once she heard Zack telling Taylor about our whereabouts.
I rolled my eyes out of annoyance. This girl loves to ride my nut sack. I whispered in her ear, “I won’t be gone long baby. I promise. You just wait until I get back and we can have our fun. How does that sound?”
Victoria blushed and smiled. “Fine. Don’t keep me waiting for long.” She responded playfully punching me in the stomach.
Next thing I know, we were in Downtown Orlando hitting up one of the clubs outside of Pleasure Island, called Club Groove. It was Roger’s idea. We continued to drink up the night. Then Zack and I saw this hottie. I was going for her because...well... you would think, hey, Im not the one who is married here, right? Well this chick totally bypassed me and went for Zack. She even bought us a round of drinks. She had this hot latina accent. If you ask me, I think Zack has a thing for Hispanic girls. He only married Taylor because of that kid they had. So anyway, she’s giving Zack lap dances, she’s got her ass all over Zack. Roger and I were like this girl is definitely DTF. You know, ‘Down To Fuck’. Then this cock blocker chick – I guess it was her sister or cousin…I don’t know who this other chick was…but she comes and drags the girl who was DTF away from us. Zack was pissed off. But we kept partying it up and after a few more drinks we decided to head back to the hotel.
Before we left, I saw Zack say a few words to the DTF girl, and she smiled. We got out to the parking lot and that’s when Zack asked if we could take a cab back to the hotel. He said that he and the DTF girl had made plans to hook up. We gave him our blessings…and dude, we were outta there. Zack did his thing.

---End of Jacob's Story---
Jacob & Liam
“You gave him your blessings? Zack did his thing? So…you gave him your blessings to do his thing and rape the girl?” Nick asked slightly upset.
“Nah, man, you’re being overly dramatic. Did you not hear me say that the girl smiled or are you just playing deaf right now?”
“You’re an idiot Jacob. I always knew you were, but today, you prove me right.”
“Man, whatever. You weren’t there.” Jacob said leaning back in his chair.
“So because a girl is giving him a fucking lap dance she was DTF? If the girl said ‘No’ then she means ‘No’.” Nick said standing up more upset as he thought about Sabrina.
Liam stood up to calm Nick.
Jacob looked up at Nick with a confused expression. “What the hell is your problem, bro? First Zack, and now me? What’s your problem?” “You are the problem! Zack is the problem. He is sick, and you dumb asses can’t see that!”
“Is this about Sabrina?” Jacob smirked.
Nick frowned and narrowed his eyes as he looked down at Jacob sitting in his chair. “What?”
“Alright, let’s calm down shall we.” Liam said calmly as he held his hand up between Nick and Jacob.
Jacob stood up and smiled at Nick. “You mad because Zack, Roger, Paul and damn near the whole football team of Northside fucked Sabrina and you didn’t?”
Nick snapped. He swiftly shoved Liam out of the way and lunged at Jacob. They wrestled down to the floor knocking over the lamp that sat on the table next to the chairs. Liam forcefully pulled Nick off of Jacob and pushed him away.
“C’mon, man, chill out! Both of you!” Liam shouted.
“Keep him off of me, Liam!” Jacob said quickly standing to his feet.
“Keep Sabrina’s name out of your fucking mouth! None of that shit is true, and you know it!”
“Which part? The part that she fucked the whole football team or the fact you didn’t fuck her yet?” Jacob smirked.
Nick once again attempted to attack Jacob however Liam held him back.
“Nick, c’mon man! Stop! Chill out!” Liam turned to Jacob and yelled at him saying, “Get out, Jacob! Get the fuck out of the room!”
Jacob adjusted his clothes. “Zack, Roger…hell, everybody’s saying it, Nick. You have changed. We’re supposed to be brothers, Nick! You are never supposed to let a girl come between us as brothers! Don’t you know the saying? Bros before hoes!”
“Jacob, get out!” Liam shouted at Jacob.
"Northside Mighty Dolphins football team is a brotherhood. Don’t you forget that shit, Nick.” Jacob said and calmly walked out.
Once Jacob left Nick’s room, Nick shoved Liam away from him. Liam looked at Nick with a puzzled expression as he watched him sit back down on his bed. “Nick…seriously, what has gotten into you?”
Nick sat there in silence as he leaned forward with his fingers intertwined held up against his lips while his elbows rested on his knees.
At that moment, Liam’s cell phone rung. “Hello?” Liam answered.
There was a long pause before Liam finally spoke again into the phone. “Alright. I’ll see what I can do.” He then ended the call and looked at Nick. “Zack can post bail if he wants to. Taylor just needs an extra four hundred bucks and she said that Zack can get out of jail tonight.”
Nick shook his head. “That’s crazy.” Nick said softly.
“I can probably give them like $200…but that’s not enough.”
“I know you’re not asking me if I will chip in to help, are you?”
“Well…”
“Zack is a fucking rapist. Roger and Paul are too.”
“What are you taking about?”
Nick took a deep breath. “They raped Sabrina, Liam. Our freshman year, they ganged raped her. Zack made up all those stupid rumors and like idiots the rest of the guys started making up shit for no reason about her.”
“How do you know?”
“Sabrina told me.”
“Okay, but…how do you know she’s telling the truth?” Liam asked calmly.
“Because I know Sabrina. I’ve known her since I was a kid. She wouldn’t have done those things at her own free will. It changed her life.”
Liam remained silent as he thought about all the things that were said about Sabrina back when they were freshmen in high school.
“So, if you’re going to help a rapist get out of jail…then by all means, knock yourself out, bro.” Nick said grabbing a navy t-shirt and throwing it over his head.
He then calmly walked out of his hotel room leaving Liam behind.

Chapter 14
The next morning as Sabrina packed her bags, she heard a knock at the door. She rushed to open the door. There was Raven on the other side of the door with her hands full with their breakfast. “Girrrrl, you are not going to believe this.” Raven said as she walked into the room. “What?” Sabrina curiously asked closing the door behind Raven.
Raven placed their breakfast food she had gotten from the restaurant downstairs, down on the table and turned around to face Sabrina. “I heard some of your old classmates downstairs talking about Zack and the whole debacle that he was in yesterday.” Raven paused to take a few deep breaths. “He posted bail last night. He’s free.”
Sabrina ran her fingers thru her hair. “Really? Wow.”
“I know, it’s crazy. That poor girl.” Raven said thinking about the victim who accused Zack of raping her.
“See, Raven. That’s why I never said anything. I knew they wouldn’t do anything to him. I knew it.”
“Unh-uh, Sabrina, don’t you do that. You don’t know what would have happened back then. You were 14 years old. You were a child. And can you imagine what your dad would have done? He would have made sure those bastards would be under the jail.”
Sabrina gave Raven a faint smile.
Raven then opened up the Styrofoam box full of her breakfast food saying, “Im telling you, Brin…it’s still not too late. If you say something now and help that girl’s case…the judge will probably throw more time on him once he goes to court. Zack may be free now…but I guarantee he won’t be free for long.”

-----------
About an hour later, Sabrina and Raven finished eating their breakfast and got dressed ready to leave the hotel. They had already made plans to change their flight for later that evening. It gave them enough time to do some souvenir shopping before leaving for the airport. Sabrina wore a simple black spaghetti strap tank top and white shorts while Raven wore a yellow off the shoulder jersey top with ruffle lining and black shorts. Raven was still in the bathroom trying to ensure her hair was straight. Sabrina had moved their luggage to the door. “Rave, let’s go! What are you doing?”
Raven gave herself one final primp in the mirror and walked out of the bathroom. “Now you know I had to make sure my weave was right. You can’t rush beauty!” Raven said with a broad smile.
Sabrina shook her head with a smile.
They walked their luggage to their rental car. Once they loaded their luggage, Raven looked at Sabrina squinting her eyes from the sun. “Are you sure you don’t want to say anything to Nick before you leave?”
Sabrina looked back at the hotel. “I think I will. I don’t want to lose contact with him again. I also think we should talk to Demi before we go.” “We?”
Sabrina smiled. “Okay…I mean I should go talk to her.”
“I’ll go with you because I don’t know where the whole Taylor gang is and I don’t want those assholes to mess with you if you’re alone. ‘Cause if they have something to say, they will have to go thru me too. So, let’s go.” Raven said and started to sway her hips as she walked back into the hotel lobby.
Sabrina smiled and followed behind her.
Sure enough as they walked to the elevator, they saw Taylor and Victoria coming out of the restaurant holding plastic bags in their hands. It was obvious they were taking their breakfast back up to their room. “Great.” Sabrina mumbled at the sight of them.
Raven turned to see why Sabrina made that remark. Then she spotted them. “I wish they would say something.”
Raven and Sabrina stood at the elevator waiting for the elevator to arrive. Taylor and Victoria walked up to the elevator as well. Raven made eye contact with both Taylor and Victoria as if she were waiting for them to say something to Sabrina. Sabrina kept her eyes forward. Taylor looked at Sabrina but didn’t say a word. Victoria rolled her eyes at Raven however didn’t say anything. The elevator arrived opening the door with a dinging noise. Raven and Sabrina boarded the elevator in silence.
Victoria started to enter the elevator but Taylor stopped her. “Go on. We’ll catch the next one.” Taylor said flatly.
Raven gave them a fake smile and pressed the elevator button to close the door. Raven and Sabrina exchanged glances in silence and shrugged their shoulders.
The elevator arrived on the 11th floor. Where Nick’s room was located. Sabrina flipped her hair behind one shoulder and knocked on Nick’s door as Raven stood behind her.
Nick had just turned the shower off when he heard a knock at his door. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist. He thought maybe it was Liam coming to wake him up. Nick heard the knock again and rushed toward his door saying, “Alright asshole Im coming already.” Nick said in a joking manner.

He didn’t bother to look thru the peep hole. He quickly swung the door open saying, “I told you I would be up—“ Nick’s eyes widen with shock when he saw Sabrina and Raven standing on the other side of the door. “Hi.” Sabrina said with a smile as she quickly glanced up and down Nick’s wet muscular body.
“Mmm…damn.” Raven said quietly to herself with a smile on her face when she saw Nick.
“Ladies…good morning.” Nick said still in shock.
“Sorry to just stop by so early. I was kind of hoping that we could talk for a second..?” Sabrina said trying to focus on Nick’s eyes. However her eyes kept drifting down to his chest and arms.
“Uh…yeah…sure.” Nick stepped to the side allowing Sabrina and Raven to come inside.
Sabrina walked in and could smell his fresh showered scent fill his room.
Raven walked in giving him a flirtatious look as she continued to allow her eyes to roam up and down his body. As she passed Nick she said in her best Wendy Williams imitation, “How you doin’?” she wrinkled her nose at him and smiled.
Nick smiled and closed the door behind them. “Im good, thanks.”
“Maybe we should come back and give you some time to get dressed or what not.” Sabrina hesitated.
“Uh…no. I can get dressed in the bathroom, so…give me a second?”
Sabrina and Raven both nodded yes.
Nick grabbed his clothes and dipped inside his bathroom.
Raven grabbed Sabrina’s arm tightly and whispered loudly, “Oh snap! That boy is fine!”
“Shhh!” Sabrina said as she giggled playfully pushing Raven’s arm away.
“Im just saying.” Raven smiled. She then walked over to the table where the plush chairs were. Raven pointed to the broken lamp. “Brin, look. What’s up with this?”
Sabrina saw the broken lamp and shrugged her shoulders.
“Are you going to be okay?”
“Yea why?” Sabrian asked curiously.
“Okay, well im going to step out the room so you guys can talk alone.” Raven said quietly as she started to walk toward the door.
“Wait. You can’t just leave me.”
“Im going to wait out in the hall. Im not about to get into you guy’s conversation. You really need this time alone with him.”
“Raven, no, you don’t have to.”
“In fact…I will go wait down in the lobby. I’ll be at the bar. Never too early for a drink.” Raven raised her eye brows up and down with a smile. “Call me if you need me.” She continued while holding up her cell phone. She then walked out of the room.
Sabrina nervously ran her fingers thru her hair and sat down on Nick’s bed. She then thought that wouldn’t be a good idea so she hopped up and sat in one of the plush chairs.
A few minutes later, Nick walked out wearing dark loose fitting blue jeans and a white t-shirt with the word Orlando written in orange letters. Sabrina jumped up once again when Nick stepped out of the bathroom. He stared at her for a second and then looked around his room. He noticed Raven was gone. “Where’s your friend, Raven?”
“Oh she just went down to the lobby. She thought she should leave us alone to talk.” Sabrina said fidgeting with her hands.
“Oh.” Nick said walking over to his bed. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah..I just wanted to talk to you.”
Nick put some of his clothing away that he had laying on his bed. He then walked over toward Sabrina telling her to sit down. While Sabrina sat back down in the plush chair, Nick sat on the corner of his bed facing her. He thought she looked beautiful that morning...as usual. He loved the way her long smooth legs looked stemming from her white shorts. He smiled at her. “So…”
Sabrina smiled back at him for a second and then her smile faded. “I miss my son. So…Raven and I made plans to go back home today.” Nick’s smile immediately faded and looked more serious. “Really?”
Sabrina nodded. “The drama here is just too much for me. I don’t want to be here any longer, so Im just going to go back home and relax….with my son.”
Nick slightly nodded his head as he listened to her. He then finally responded with disappointment, “I totally understand. What time is your flight?”
“Not until about 5:30. We wanted to do a little souvenir shopping before boarding the plane.”
“Oh okay.”
Silence fell between them as Nick stared at her in deep thoughts.
Sabrina pushed a few strands of her hair behind her left ear and cleared her throat. “I just wanted to come by and give you my contact information. This time maybe we can keep in touch…like friends are supposed to.”
Nick stared at her as if he were in a daze yet he nodded his head in agreement with her. He finally responded slowly, “Right. Friends.” He then snapped out of his daze standing up to walk over to the small night stand near his bed to grab his cell phone. “What’s your number, I’ll call it right now so you can lock my number in.”
Sabrina stood up as well and walked near him. They exchanged phone numbers.
“This number won’t change anytime soon, will it?” Nick teased her with a smile.
Sabrina smiled back at him. “No. I promise it won’t. I have to many business contacts connected with this number so…” her voice trailed off. “So, Im just a business contact?”
“No, that’s not what I meant.” Sabrina said almost for a lost of words.
Nick laughed. “It’s okay. I know what you meant.”
Sabrina laughed and playfully hit his arm.
“I hope to see you again soon, Bri-bear.”
Sabrina smiled. “Me too. Thanks for everything by the way.”
“For what?”
“For standing up for me over the weekend.”
Nick waved her off. “Ah, it was nothing. It’s just something I should have done a long time ago.”
Sabrina smiled.
Silence fell between them once again.
Sabrina looked away and said, “I should go. Thanks again.” She then started to walk toward his door.
“Brin, can I ask you something?”
Sabrina turned around and waited for him to respond.
“I uh…that…uhm..” Nick hesitated not sure how to bring up the next subject he wanted to talk about. He stopped and quietly took a deep breath. “You know that kiss yesterday…was uh…”
“Yeah…I know. It was crazy.” Sabrina interrupted him with a nervous laughter and shoving a few strands of hair behind her ear once again. Nick kept a serious look on his face and slowly responded, “Right.”
“When I wanted you to follow me to my room, I just wanted to talk more. Not talk about the kiss or anything. I mean..friends kiss all the time, right?” she replied without looking at Nick.
“I guess.”
“Yeah…so…” Sabrina said with more nervous laughter and looking back at Nick. “I don’t want that little kiss to like ruin our friendship. I think our friendship is the most important thing. I couldn’t have handled this weekend without you sticking up for me, right?”
Nick remained silent as he stared into her eyes.
Sabrina continued, “Which is why I think we should definitely keep in touch. Maybe one day I can meet your daughter and you can meet my son. You know…just old friends getting together to hang out.”
Nick smiled slowly as he finally looked away from her and looked down at his feet. “Yeah, Brin…I get it…” he then looked back up at her, saying softly, “Friends. I got it.”
Nick figured that she didn’t want to take their relationship any further than just friends and it was something he would just have to deal with. Nick stepped up to her wrapping his arms around her to embrace her. Sabrina wrapped her arms around his torso enhaling his fresh shower scent once more. She felt like she could stay in that position forever. They both pulled away at the same time.
Sabrina walked towards his door to leave. Nick opened the door for her. “Don’t be a stranger.”
Sabrina smiled, “You either. I better hear from you. No excuses.”
Nick smiled back at her. “Oh, I promise.”
Sabrina giggled and walked off down the hall toward the elevator. Nick stood at his door and watched her walk down the hall. Deep down inside he wished he could have kissed her once more…but he decided against it.

Raven and Sabrina were now settled in their seats on the airplane. Raven looked over at Sabrina as Sabrina stared out the window.
“You should have kissed him one last time.” Raven said softly.
Sabrina sighed. “I know. But if it was meant for us to be more than friends then time will tell. Right?”
Raven smiled at her and patted her leg. “You know what they say… Friends make the best lovers.”

“Thank you mommy for my souvenirs!” Cody said kissing Sabrina on her cheek and tightly wrapping his arms around her neck.
Sabrina laughed and told him he was welcomed. She then kissed him all over his face. She was so happy to see him.
Cody laughed and ran off.
Sabrina remained seated on her father’s bed. He didn’t look like he was having a good day. The cancer appeared to be beating him down on this day.
“I still think you should have stayed there, Brin. Enjoy your vacation you know, hun?”
“I know, dad. But Im glad to be back home. I can give aunt Kelly a break.” Sabrina said patting her father's leg thru his covers.
Kelly walked into her brother’s room as if on cue. “I heard that. I didn’t need a break. I can handle your father like a piece of cake.”
Sabrina laughed.
“Here, Dean…time for your medication.” Kelly said to Sabrina’s father handing him a few pills.
Dean grunted because he didn't want to take it. Sabrina then watched her father who was starting to look frail take the medication from Kelly. Once he swallowed it, he leaned back into this pillow and asked Sabrina, “So, Nicholas still a handsome young man, huh?”
Sabrina smiled. It was obvious her father was trying to take the attention away from him. Sabrina thought he was so good at it. “Yes. Nicholas is very handsome.”
“You know what they say, right Brin?” Kelly said as she sat down in a wooden chair next to Dean in his bed.
“What?” Sabrina asked looking at her aunt.
“Friends make the best lovers.”
Sabrina rolled her eyes. “Yeah I know. I’ve heard that a time or two.”
“I'm just saying, sweetie.”
Sabrina faintly smiled as she looked down thinking of Nick.
